I worked alongside Box of Tricks from October 2020 to February 2021.
Box of Tricks makes plays. We champion playwrights and empower them to tell the stories they want to tell. Together, we go on a journey to uncover new plays that reflect the world in which we live today. We create heartfelt theatre that resonates, inspires and entertains.
I introduced Box of Tricks to a method of producing digital theatre using vMix, an industry standard live-stream and broadcast software. We needed to find a way to present their annual Christmas production, typically a live and interactive pub quiz experience. Our goal was to maintain as much interactivity as possible while switching to a digital presentation. Utilizing vMix helped reduce interuption and technical difficulties that usually present themselves when using Zoom on its own. Plus, it looks ten times better.
Audience, of over 50 people each performance, was able to join and watch via a Zoom, interact with the performers/participate in the quiz, and share their thoughts in the comment section all while the performers and technical team ran the show from vMix.
I have also produced virtual scratch nights with Box of Tricks for their PenPals Program.
